A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full.

Open letter to Kansas School Board

I am writing you with much concern after having read of your hearing to decide whether the alternative theory of Intelligent Design should be taught along with the theory of Evolution. I think we can all agree that it is important for students to hear multiple viewpoints so they can choose for themselves the theory that makes the most sense to them. I am concerned, however, that students will only hear one theory of Intelligent Design.

Let us remember that there are multiple theories of Intelligent Design. I and many others around the world are of the strong belief that the universe was created by a Flying Spaghetti Monster. It was He who created all that we see and all that we feel. We feel strongly that the overwhelming scientific evidence pointing towards evolutionary processes is nothing but a coincidence, put in place by Him.

It is for this reason that I’m writing you today, to formally request that this alternative theory be taught in your schools, along with the other two theories. In fact, I will go so far as to say, if you do not agree to do this, we will be forced to proceed with legal action. I’m sure you see where we are coming from. If the Intelligent Design theory is not based on faith, but instead another scientific theory, as is claimed, then you must also allow our theory to be taught, as it is also based on science, not on faith.

Some find that hard to believe, so it may be helpful to tell you a little more about our beliefs. We have evidence that a Flying Spaghetti Monster created the universe. None of us, of course, were around to see it, but we have written accounts of it. We have several lengthy volumes explaining all details of His power. Also, you may be surprised to hear that there are over 10 million of us, and growing. We tend to be very secretive, as many people claim our beliefs are not substantiated by observable evidence. What these people don’t understand is that He built the world to make us think the earth is older than it really is. For example, a scientist may perform a carbon-dating process on an artifact. He finds that approximately 75% of the Carbon-14 has decayed by electron emission to Nitrogen-14, and infers that this artifact is approximately 10,000 years old, as the half-life of Carbon-14 appears to be 5,730 years. But what our scientist does not realize is that every time he makes a measurement, the Flying Spaghetti Monster is there changing the results with His Noodly Appendage. We have numerous texts that describe in detail how this can be possible and the reasons why He does this. He is of course invisible and can pass through normal matter with ease.

I’m sure you now realize how important it is that your students are taught this alternate theory. It is absolutely imperative that they realize that observable evidence is at the discretion of a Flying Spaghetti Monster. Furthermore, it is disrespectful to teach our beliefs without wearing His chosen outfit, which of course is full pirate regalia. I cannot stress the importance of this enough, and unfortunately cannot describe in detail why this must be done as I fear this letter is already becoming too long.

The concise explanation is that He becomes angry if we don’t.
You may be interested to know that global warming, earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters are a direct effect of the shrinking numbers of Pirates since the 1800s. For your interest, I have included a graph of the approximate number of pirates versus the average global temperature over the last 200 years. As you can see, there is a statistically significant inverse relationship between pirates and global temperature.

In conclusion, thank you for taking the time to hear our views and beliefs. I hope I was able to convey the importance of teaching this theory to your students. We will of course be able to train the teachers in this alternate theory. I am eagerly awaiting your response, and hope dearly that no legal action will need to be taken. I think we can all look forward to the time when these three theories are given equal time in our science classrooms across the country, and eventually the world; One third time for Intelligent Design, one third time for Flying Spaghetti Monsterism, and one third time for logical conjecture based on overwhelming observable evidence.

Je lis des blogs, ouais cool je blog, quelle merde ces blogs. On peut dire ce qu’on peut, lire ce qu’on veut mais surtout pas arrêter d’en lire.
A vrai dire, je passe pas mal de temps à lire des blogs et là ou je m’attarde c’est surtout sur les blogs Libanais. Quelle souffrance, quelle haine, quel désespoir ! Non j’arrête, j’arrête surtout pas de bloger, mais j’arrête j’ai envie d’une autre vision du Liban, des Libanais, de leurs avenirs, de leurs espoirs, de leurs projets. Ces blogs reflètent une vie, parfois une vie de merde, mais surtout une vie de révolté, d’insoumis, de rebel. C’est une façon de s’exprimer, de décompresser mais surtout de s’enfuir ! Je le pense, j’espère avoir tort.

Un certain «Igman Mougninié» (désolé c’est la prononciation française) a été repéré au sud Liban en provenance de Teheran !

Story of a German guy in the best French forest!

Once upon time a big blond German guy called JOK felt to be old and wise enough to make his own way in life! He decided to go to the best French forest ever discovered, even if it was too far from his homeland. This forest was very special; it was noisy, dirty and frightening to JOK who is used to the gentle and wet atmosphere of his homeland. Surprisingly this forest was inhabited by monkeys, some cool monkeys and others not as cool as that. Those monkeys rallied for everything and the rest of their time they tanned and played forest beach volleyball!

But JOK didn’t know how to play volleyball on the forest beach and was way from getting the same tan of those monkeys. Pissed of, JOK decided that he will do science (at least this is how he call what he do, “SCIENCE” yeah whatever!). And sadistic as he is (lol) JOK decided to do SCIENCE on monkeys (naughty JOK). He started to plug stuff in monkeys’ heads and ask them questions about volleyball, tanning, and German museli! But monkeys didn’t know what to say about German muesli and were too scared from the naughty JOK laughing and wearing his pink suit and gloves.

JOK couldn’t stop plugging stuff in monkeys heads and the whole monkeys’ society was outraged by JOK behaviour and had to find the ultimate solution for this problem; they called MOJO JOJO (see the Powerpuff girls for further information). MOJO JOJO had a super power, he possessed the black head with the red eyes (it’s just a super weapon). It was the only efficacious super weapon against JOK.

And the ultimate battle began! Bang bang! JOK was way from winning this battle; he lost even before getting one spike from the monkeys’ brains and started crying and calling for his mom!

You know JOK even if you lost this battle grow up and do real science!

Great wall : Saudi Arabia - part II

Un article vient d’apparaître dans le journal quotidien 20minutes édition Marseille intitulé « Pour sa sécurité, le monde s’emmure ». Je vous transmet l’essentiel :

La sécurité est une obsession mondiale. Et pour se protéger, les Etats ont de nouveau recours au mur. On aurait pu penser le procédé disparu depuis 1989, année de la chute du mur de Berlin, effaçant les frontières entre Est et Ouest. Mais force est de se rendre à l'évidence, le concept semble encore avoir de beaux jours devant lui. L'Arabie saoudite vient en effet d'annoncer qu'elle comptait se doter d'une barrière électronique pour surveiller sa frontière de 900 km avec l'Irak. Objectif : empêcher l'infiltration d'extrémistes islamistes et le trafic d'armes. Aucune indication n'a encore été fournie sur la date d'exécution du projet, mais son coût est estimé à 12 milliards de dollars. Aux Etats-Unis, c'est une clôture de 1 200 km de long qui est prévue pour fin 2008. Elle devrait permettre de fermer les zones les plus poreuses des 3 200 km de frontière avec le Mexique, dont le désert d'Arizona. Coût de l'opération : 1,2 milliard de dollars. La barrière de béton entre la Cisjordanie et Israël date quant à elle d'avril 2002 elle couvre déjà plus de 362 km sur les 703 km de tracé prévu.

Amnistie internationale 2/19/2004 considère que ce mur viole les droits internationaux et constitue une violation directe des droits de l’homme. A quand cette mascarade va continuer? For those who don’t know Lebanon and never been there, Lebanon is a tiny country (like Corsica or one French department) with 3.5 million people as heterogeneous as a box of Haribo candies. Some of them are sticky, others too sweet and a lot are just fat and sugar, but all are succulent and we just like them (stop asking why).
I didn’t mention that there is more Lebanese abroad than on the national territory! It seems that about 8 million Lebanese or from Lebanese origins are living in Europe, America and Africa.

Each Lebanese is different from the other but all of them share their love to their country, even if they don’t even think to get back mainly those established in foreign countries. All those Lebanese share also the weird habit to make every known person, on this earth, from Lebanese origins. So till now Salma Hayek, Shakira, Yamila Diaz, Keanu Reeves, Paul Anka, Wendie Maleck, Frank Zappa, … have all Lebanese origins ! And so what?
Ok, maybe those people have Lebanese origins but why it is so important to the Lebanese people to say it? And not just mention it but to tell everyone they know or they intersect. During my stay in Europe I lived with French, German, Spanish people and had friends from even more different cultures or origins and not even once someone told me that Mr. X or Mrs. Y have their nationality. They just don’t care, while for Lebanese it’s like if it was a plus to have Lebanese blood in Shakira’s veins.

Is this behaviour just Made in Lebanon? Or just made in each country suffering for underestimation! In fact all the Lebanese have known and saw on television till now is war, war, and war (maybe we should give them numbers, LbW1, LbW2 …). By being proud of Salma whatever being half Lebanese or something Lebanese, is this the way telling everyone that we can do something else then war, or we can be something else than terrorists. In fact in Europe you feel like when Europeans get to know that you are Lebanese, the first thing they mention is war and terrorism. Maybe we want them to ask us about Salma and Shakira, instead of Hezbollah and the Israeli war!

Yeah God is Lebanese! But Nancy, Haifa and Yamila too so god bless Lebanon.
